An Giang province is located to the South – West of Mekong Delta, nearly 200 km far away from Ho Chi Minh city, North – West to Cambodia ( with the border bell of 100 km long), North – East to Dong Thap province, South – East to Can Tho province and South – West to Kien Giang province. The land area of the province is 3.424 km2. The administrative units consist of Long Xuyen city, Chau Doc town and 9 districts. The population is over 2 million inhabitants. An Giang is the head of Mekong river flowing into Viet Nam through two rivers: the Tien (upper) river and the Hau (lower) river.
